Greener Tomorrow – Our Commitment to Environmental Protection in Oil-Producing Communities

Introduction
Oil production has brought economic benefits but also environmental challenges to the OML 17 host communities. Pollution, deforestation, and waste mismanagement have taken a toll. That’s why environmental protection is central to the mission of the HCDT.

Tackling Pollution and Promoting Clean Energy
We are working to reduce the environmental impact of extractive activities through clean-up initiatives and support for clean energy solutions. Solar streetlights, eco-friendly cookstoves, and proper waste disposal programs are already in place.

Tree Planting and Erosion Control
Our reforestation campaigns and erosion control projects are restoring damaged ecosystems. Community volunteers, especially youth, play a vital role in tree planting drives and sensitization efforts.

Education and Community Engagement
We believe sustainable change starts with awareness. Through workshops and community forums, we educate residents about proper waste management, climate change, and how to protect natural resources.

Conclusion
Our goal is to restore balance between economic activity and environmental sustainability. By working with communities, we’re creating cleaner, safer, and greener environments where people and nature can thrive together.
